Neutral countertops to fit your budget –and paint colors to coordinate!
Choosing a countertop can be overwhelming and a bit intimidating. Do you go with marble, quartz, granite? And where to start with a paint color? Neutral is always a good idea – and a timeless and classic approach. Here are 3 options for neutral stone in 3 different price ranges.
Low -Mid
Misterio is a quartz – meaning it is (almost) indestructible. This is a man-made stone and built to last. Misterio has a white/ivory background with very light gray/bronze lines running through to provide nice movement. Misterio is even offered in a gold option, which provides warmer tones. This stone’s ivory color pairs nicely with Sherwin Williams Dover White. Whether it be for a wall color or cabinet color, Dover White works great to keep your room nice and bright.
Mid – High
Taj Mahal is a beautiful quartzite. This tone has more variety of color but still remains neutral for a nice backdrop to any kitchen. Taj Mahal is stunning when used as a countertops and the backsplash together. Using your slab on the backsplash eliminates the need for grout which makes it easier to clean. This stone has lots of options for paint colors – but two of the best are Benjamin Moore Royal Silk and Seapearl, which provide a creamier feel compared to Dover White.
High
Cristallo is an absolutely gorgeous piece of stone. Cristallo is a translucent quartzite with gray and golden hues. As a pure natural quartzite, it is very durable and sure to last in your home for years and years. Sherwin Williams Alabaster and Creamy would both complement this stone nicely.
Neutral Paint Colors
“Honorable Mentions”
Sherwin Williams: Pure White, Origami White, Agreeable Gray
Benjamin Moore: White Dove, Simply White, White Heron
Of course, always compare your paint swatch to the slab or slabs you select, as the shades and tones can vary from bundle to bundle. Though you may choose a neutral countertop – it doesn’t mean your whole room has to remain neutral. You can always bring in color on your island, or cabinets by doing a color as opposed to neutral paint. When you choose a neutral stone, the options for paint are endless!
